WHAT IS HEALTHY EATING
Eating the right amount of nutritious foods
that will help to fuel the body with energy to go
through the day.
Dimension | Meaning | Related food & nutrition |
E.g. Taha hinengaro | mental and emotional well-being
| Cultural food, a balance of the required nutrients and adequate hydration

Taha Wairua | Spiritual well-being | Religious food, dishes or foods that are traditional in religion or that you consume in a religious setting. Also, food that reflects your personal values or beliefs. |
Taha Whanau | Social well-being | Fast foods + restaurants, food that enables active communication within the community and others. |
Taha Tinana | Physical well-being | Protein + adequate nutrition, food that provides excess protein and energy-based foods to help lose fat and/or gain muscle. |
