In WWII / World War 2, on September the 3rd 1939 Britain, France, New Zealand and Australia declare war on Germany. Only 2 days after that on the 5th of September the first New Zealander was taken captive as a prisoner,
~ACTIVITY 2~
Flying Officer Lloyd Allan Trigg was awarded a Victoria Cross Medal.
He fatally damaged a German Submarine but very soon after his crippled plane crashed in the ocean.
He was a courageous Flying officer / pilot.

ReplyDeleteAnother great post! Woah… how scary would it have been to be the first NZ prisoner of the war. What do you think he would have been feeling at the time?
You have two events that took place during the war so well done on completing this activity. And a person who earned a very special medal.
I agree, Lloyd Allan Trigg was a very courageous officer. I bet his family was extremely proud of him. Great use of words there! Maybe you could add a picture of what the Victoria Cross Medal looked like? I would be very interested to see as I don’t know much about medals myself.
