  1. Hi Danielle,

I'm so glad that you chose to research information about Jenny Shipley. It's very impressive to me that New Zealanders elected a female prime minister in the 1980's! In Canada, where I live, we've only had 1 female prime minister and she served just a few months before another election was called and she lost her position.

I wonder if you're interested in being involved in politics in the future. Perhaps you'd like to be a prime minister one day!

    Keep up your good work!

  2. Hi Danielle

My name is Allie and I am the Cluster Manager for the SLJ in Toki Pounamu on the West Coast of the South Island. So I live in Greymouth.

You have done a great job with this activity. There are so many things that you need when you go tramping or hiking.
You definitely needs lots of water, and food to keep you going while you are walking. Before you go you should make sure you know where you are going and then tell someone where and how long you will be.
Good boots! This is really important. Your clothing is important too and a good sturdy backpack to put everything in. Well Done.

Have you done and tramping or hiking before?

I haven't really done any hiking before but I have walked three half marathons in the last two years.

You have chosen a great Prime Minister to profile. Jenny Shipley will always have a very important part in our history being the first woman to be Prime Minister. Now we have another women leading the country.
It was really interesting that Jenny Shipley was a school teacher before she went into politics.

    Well done Danielle

    Until next time

    Allie :)
